In preparation for Drones Beyond 2022, which will be held in Bari at Fiera del Levante on 17 and 18 November, the Aerospace Technological District has put in place a program of initiatives for younger people with educational activities, games to learn about and get closer to drone technologies drones and seminars on Urban air mobility (Uam) topics.

All first and second level secondary schools in the Puglia Region will receive a circular through the Regional School Office in these days containing the ways to apply and be selected to take part in the Drones Beyond activities.

For the little ones, guided tours of approximately 2 hours are planned with scientific communicators and industry experts who will present the technologies and objects on display in the Fiera del Levante area.

An FPV (First PersonView) drone racing competition with professional and/or amateur athletes was planned for high school teenagers . The activity will take place within a circuit with obstacles to overcome. The protagonists will be the teams of new student pilots who will compete while driving mini-drones. The competition will take place in teams, each made up of 4 students, coming from the schools that have applied. To apply for DB racing or to participate in the exhibition on technologies and new air mobility, schools must send the application for participation and the attached “motivational sheet” between 10am on 10 October 2022 and no later than 12pm on 14 October 2022 to:  district@pec.dtascarl.it , reporting the following subject in the email: “DB2002: Application to DB Racing for secondary schools”. For each group of participants, two accompanying teachers may be provided.
Transport costs to reach the Fiera del Levante will be borne by the school.

Thematic preparatory meetings for Drones Beyond are planned for university students, with a focus on the skills required to be successful professionals and/or entrepreneurs. We will also discuss the importance and value of technological innovation. Two events are scheduled, organized in collaboration with Apulian universities: the first will take place on Tuesday 11 October in Lecce, in room Y1 of the Angelo Rizzo Building of the Faculty of Engineering; the second is scheduled for October 24th (from 10.30 to 12.30) in the Multimedia room of the Polytechnic of Bari, in via Amendola 126/ba Bari .

The title of the initiative is “𝐋𝐞 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐚 ‘ 𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚’: 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐚’ 𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐩 𝐞𝐫 𝐢 young people”.

As regards the Lecce event (which will take place from 11.30 to 13.30), after greetings from representatives of the Department of Innovation Engineering and the DTA (Aerospace Technological District), a technical panel will be held to present the research projects of Unisalento and the DTA in the advanced air mobility sector with insights into application case studies (precision farming, land surveillance, etc), solutions and technologies.

The 𝗗𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮 – Urban Air Mobility (UAM) Evolutions and perspectives scheduled in Bari on 17 and 18 November will then be presented. We will talk about the professional figures and skills required by the UAM sector: the activities proposed to young people on the occasion of the 𝗗𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮 (professional speed dating with the companies present at the event).

In the second part of the morning there will be space to ask questions to the experts and learn more about the employment opportunities that the sector also offers in Puglia.

Giuseppe Acierno, president of the Aerospace Technology District, explained that through these initiatives the DTA “intends to make young people listen to the voice of representatives of many European cities to understand how they see their future and what is already happening in those cities through the use of technologies at the service of citizens. The Drones Beyond opportunity will also allow young people to get to know the companies and the training system that are interpreters of the change underway”. The objective, added Acierno, is to “put young people in a position to obtain maximum information in order to continue a growth path in this part of Italy and Europe, without having to give up the use of creativity and imagination . The growth path is also possible here, in a field that we have well plowed and cultivated together with our public and private partners and institutions”.
